One of our ducks has taken it upon herself to nest, she's currently sat on a batch of about 8 eggs, probably more if they layed again last night. Shes gone all defensive on us but did come out for a bath and some food today.
I may have to buy shop bought eggs this week! (DISASTER!!)
She will let us know the infertile ones by apparently rolling them out of the nest.
I'm a bit at a loss this is our first year breeding ducks!
Oh and our Cherry Valley Drake is looking more and more like a White Campbell Drake instead tall & graceful not chubby at all and his feet nd beak are very very orange. Reading up this is just a rare throwback. A bit like an albino?
If anyone has any relevant duck rearing advice I'd be grateful of the help!
I love my lil ducks and the very tasty eggs are a nice by-product of the genuine pleasure these cuties give us. We're letting them breed only as we have such a broody little girl, otherwise we would still be collecting the eggs!
