Well done Jon,
Don't worry about the dinks from the axe, its what makes it unique and yours.
Those dinks will remind you of the effort you put into it!

Which reminds me I must start mine now that I have a lovely piece of Eucylptus.
Nice one!!!:D

Cheers Greg...I am not worried at all about the dinks, I was going to sand them all away, but I thought I would leave some in....
Going to eat my cereal out of that bowl every morning now....
Would be good to see your bowl being made Greg, dont forget to take some photo's.........

Wow - I must've missed this thread before. Good work there Jon! :)

I believe the chance of splitting can be reduced by using the wood the other way around - side-on as it were. But I've never tried anything similar, so that could be a load of tosh... ;)

Cheers Dunc....You mean side on, as in the way I did it, as per first photo...?

Let me know if you manage to find some bowl turning chisels for the pole lathe. That's a project I'm planning on this summer...

Nothing rough and ready about it Jon. This has got personality and has a bit of the soul of the person who made it. Its perfect as it is. You can't find that in any machine made anything, its priceless in my opinion. :You_Rock_
