King poles for large tarp?

Hi,
Looking to set up my dd 4 x 4 tarp as a group shelter in campsite.
I've bought two of these fellas http://www.outdooraction.co.uk/camp...robens-tarp-telescopic-pole-230cm-pd-5547.php as they seemed sturdier and I've good experience with the manufacturer.
Im thinking these two to form a simple ridge and perhaps four smaller poles of some sort to give some height at the sides.
Any better suggestions or hits and tips on this welcome. Btw this all has to pack down onto a motorcycle.

Extending clothes line prop, £3 at Wilkinsons work well and used by several members here.

Yep get a clothes prop.

Can you set these up at an angle, securing the bottom as well as the top with pegs, or do they need compression only to stop them buckling, ?
