Can someone Identify the following for me please:-

Looks like Elderberry.

I dont think so. I 'squished' one of the berries and it seemed to have a hard tiny pit at the center

Maybe look up images of Cherry Laurel.

Yup, Mark has it correct. You rarely see the berries on a privet because it's kept trimmed as a hedge so never gets a chance to develop them properly

Deffo not elder...

Ligustrum vulgare, common privet, according to plant net. 86%.

Apparently non edible berries (unless one is a bird). Only as cultivated here and then not common.

It looks awfully small for an untrimmed privet was my thought.
Privet grows long withies, six foot long is quite common, and it's awfully useful for basketry

I've noticed quite a few of these growing on my way to work - they never get very big , not unwieldy.
