Hi guys want to try and ID this thing as I am about to renovate it any help appreciated!

Don't know ! But judging by the shape of the handle & guard it looks more like an antique weapon rather than a tool ? Maybe you have something rare ? Where did you get it ? (if you don't mind me asking).

Its a US Army woodsmans pal, looks like an old one world war two may be.
Do a google search on woodsmans pal for more info.

It's a US Army version of a Billhook.
Not a bad tool by all accounts.
