Firesteel for the canoeist

Hi all,i was looking through some of my photos and forgot about this,
i made it for John aka Magikelly a while ago as a thank you.

I thought you might like a squint at it.

And a closer view.

Oh i forgot, i drew the design onto the wood then engraved it using a Dremmel type tool.Next i filled it in with beeswax/charcoal mixed 50/50,then a few coats of varnish to seal and make waterproof.

Hi Hanzo,the knot is a Hangmans knot,and the braid is called the braid knot,
it allows you to make a three strand braid but only using a single strand,

Mahalo Stuart. I am already familiar with the hangmans knot. Now I have the braid to learn. It does look great and the engraving is good enough for you to sell it commercially.
