The Finnish Customs has confiscated over 10 000 bird eggs and 300 dead birds from man living in Ostrobothnia, Finland. The market value of the eggs are estimated to be over a half million euro. Previously last year Swedish Customs found and confiscated 6 000 eggs from a fellow collector living in Sweden. Both cases have their roots in Scotland where the local police is investigating a case of 20 000 illegally collected eggs from several collectors.

The maximum penalty for violation of the species protection act in Finland is two and in Sweden ten years.
