Found a fig tree while out today and its loaded with figs. Does any one know when is the right time to pick the fruits, i love figs but have never picked them before. The fruits are about 25 - 30mm and green at the moment if that helps.

You need to wait 'till they have a brown tinge - probably another month.

The fruit takes 2 years to ripen and frost can cause problems which is why it's difficult to get good fruit off them here. The further south you go the better chance you have.
