there wernt many postings on her about essentials so here are some essentials you need for your small survival tin:

At least 2 methods to light a fire (I have 3: Matches, Lighter, Flint and steel)
First Aid Kit
Compass (Good One!)
Mini Maglite
Scissors
Big Knife
Victorinox Swiss knife
Sand Paper for a strike pad ETC
fish hooks
Fishing line:good for snares ETC
Tealights

Condoms are very useful as long as they are spermicidal free of course.
They can hold on average approx 2 pints of water.
best used in conjuction with some sort of carrying aid though to prevent breakage - a mosquito head net for instance.

I think the real skill is found in those incredibly capable people who can be skillful and inventive enough to make anything they need from the resources around them. Now that's a real survival skill

Your right and have a good point but don't forget, alot of men and women nowadays carry condoms!!
And you shouldn't forget the best motto of them all.
