carbon steel rust removal

Hello,
I have recently returned from a 2year break in asia & australia, only to find my moras quite badly pitted with rust!
Eager to get back out in the woods i would like to clean them up best & quickly as possible.
Im not searching for mirror Finnish just the removal of the rust.

If its just to get rid of the rust and your not too bothered about the finish I'd suggest some good old wet and dry paper

Soak it in Golden syrup/Mollases for a week. removes rust and not any metal.

I've used the Rubber they sell at heinne's. Great for cleaning up surface rust and removes patena too.

If it was me, I'd use wet and dry paper Wet then fine wire wool, then the rubber you cant really go wrong.

Would vinegar work? When I got a load of forge scale left on, I pop them in pickling vinegar for about 3 days and it comes off very easily.

Personally I'd just use good old elbow grease over leaving it in an acid.

Toothpaste works pretty good, mild abrasive that smells good!
