Beginner rifle recommendations

The Remington recall of those two models covers the manufactuing period of May 01, 2006 - April 09, 2014 with the XMP trigger group.
Ruger makes the model Precision in the for me unknown calibers 6 Creedmoor and 6.5 Creedmoor.
Any experience with those?

Nope! I'll guess 6mm and 6.5mm are the proper designations.
I thought Creedmoor was a shooting posture for long range targets!
ie lie on my back on the shooting mat, raise my knees and prop my head up with my bent left arm, hand on the ground.
Hold my Unlimited Handgun along my right leg with my gloved right hand for shooting. 7mm/.308 bolt action single shot, 15" barrel.

Did not know that position was called that.
That gun and loads was the only one my wife could not handle.
I always wanted a TC Contender in 308W, but that gun was not something we could get a permit for in Sweden when I lived there.

The centerfire handgun crowd found that .44 mag did not always have the poop to knock over a IHMSA Ram target at 200m.
Unlimited is always sort of freestyle, bang what ya brung. Turkeys at 150m never get any easier to hit.
I hope Arya finds a nice rifle and gets to shoot a lot before her hunting seasons open.
Any success and she gets to put some Norwegian sunshine on the table!

She is lucky that Norway has a population of wild Reindeer. Sweden has not, so no hunt of those!

Wild reindeer, huh? Sounds just yummy. Reindeer tacos, burgers, chili. . . . . T-bones.
I hunt bison with a cheque book. It's both impractical and downright dangerous to go into the bison pasture.
They've got about a square mile, partly forested, to play in. They're fast and have a murderous disposition.
Mule deer, white-tail deer, moose and elk rarely get aggressive. They just POOF! disappear.
The goats and the sheep are so far up the mountainsides they just stand out in the open.
No reason to mess with the bears, they don't taste all that great. Gunshots mean gutpiles and they
will come looking to push you off your kill and take it for themselves. Bearspray means people and food (same thing).

I find the flavour to be like Venison with a hint of Goat.

Oh. Caribou. Yum-aroonies, they are good. Similar to elk to me.

Ever do a stuffed heart? Pack it full of breadcrumbs, cranberries, raisins and herbs and stuff?

Tonight we had a Swedish dish called 'Varma mackor' - hot sandwiches- which is sliced white bread, a slice of ham ( Dietxps & Watson Tavern Ham (Canadian!) topped with Swiss cheese ( Finnish Finlandia) and grilled until the cheese melts and gets a crispi surface.
Pig food in other words!
But I did kill a grandmummy of an Iguana on Sunday, but she fell into the canal.
Love stuffed beef heart. And Beef Heart Goulash!
Personally I don't like heart; from any animal. I do know of somebody up north who slices deer heart and fries it like bacon for breakfast.

I get them free from the rancher just for asking.
I'm good enough that nobody spits it out. That's the most important thing of all = cook properly with game.
Close family, I cook what we all agree on is OK good.
Company, I do what has common names = roasts, steaks, burger.

I was in no mood for lizard tonight myself. My only regret was that I didn't cook enough bison, Oh well.

It is crazy expensive to hunt for reindeer here in Norway, but every year there is an offer for women to join a group, with instructors, to learn how to hunt reideer. It is a very nice price, because they want to recruit more women. Hopefully I'll be able to join next year.

What kinds of birds will you hunt? We have several kinds of grouse as well as Canada geese and several species of ducks.

Your comment in post # 134 made me think y'all hunted the roe deer in front of dogs? When I was a teenager we hunted white tail deer ahead of dogs as well and likewise, the most common guns were shotguns. Much better choice for running deer in thick woods.
