I happened upon some green Alder at the weekend & thought I'd give it a go as I've not used it before.
Quite soft & easily carved though I'm not sure how it will hold up. Apparently it tends to last well either wet or dry but not a mixture of the two.
A very popular wood for clog soles & gunpowder, indeed these were off cuts from a clog making class (cheers Jeremy).
Anyhow...the second one still needs work & they both need drying out & oiling...
