3 Peaks Challenge

In a moment of madness iv'e signed up for the 3 Peaks Challenge, we set off from Ben Nevis on 23rd of June, just wandering if anybody else might be there from BCUK?... and while were at it anyone who has done it before can extract the urine about how much pain and suffering to expect! On a more serious note, I had an interesting conversation with someone about the crass comercialisim and enviromental impact of the event. It made me doubt wether it was actually a good thing even though its all for charity.

I'm not doing it (again) although I have done it 4 times in the past (I guess I was a glutten for punishment).

There are numerous sides to the debate regarding its environmental impact - but there again there are about many activities whether they be for charity or not. In my view, do your best to minimise your impact whilst still enjoying the experience.

Whatever you do, make sure you carry sufficient water / drinks - on one occasion I decided to only carry a small amount, choosing to drink from the streams on the way - I ended up in A&E on a drip with 'severe food poisoning' which I can only attribute to the water I was drinking straight off the mountain.
