Thanks for the tutorial, it will help a lot when I go away next month. I am also removing the plastic adjusters fom my tent as I no longer need them thanks to your advice. Should save myself a few grams?

I saw one of those in a camp shop in (Kingston Upon) Hull - or 'ull as the locals call it. It looked good and I went to grab one of the packed ones, and it was MASSIVE!!!! Far too big for me (bike touring), but would be ok for people not carrying the world on their back/bike.

Thanks for that. I am going to the Netherlands for a 10 day cycle tour in May. I will be taking my 1 (person?) man tent and a DD Tarp for a bit of living 'space'. I am toying with the idea of a DD hammock to compliment my set up, and use it where there are trees available, and ground-hug in...

.....how do you sleep in a hammock if you 'traditionally' sleep on your side or your stomach? Are they only any good for people who kip on their backs? Can people like me convert?

Exactly. :cool: Cycle touring is the new backpacking. Faster than walking, zero polution, accesses areas cars can't, and has freedom to go away from train/bus routes where backpackers tend to herd up like sheep.

I have a '99 CBR 900 RRX, but don't ride much any more, just do cycle touring instead.

I totally agree, and I couldn't have put it better. What makes someone who's homeless want to sleep rough in Peckham? A few coupons from the daily star, and they can be in the south of France in a few days? It amuses me that winos choice or beer is Tennants - anyone see the irony? Go in...

I've just done a batch in a syrup tin. Hole punched in the top with a tool off my SAK, and the placed on the griddle of my chimnea. :cool: Worked a treat, but I didn't plug the hole afterwards? :confused: Still worked though. :)
