Anyone going to the Moot from ye olde continental Europe?

If I go, I'll take a Becker BK-2, a Mora or two, an SAK and a Fiskars X-10. I'd probably get ridiculed instead :D I'll talk to my parents tonight, and then I'll see.

Anyone going to the Moot from ye olde continental Europe?

:lmao: I am 20. Is that alright? Will I have to hand my sharps in before going to bed? :D I think I'll go next year, planning something like that on such short notice sucks.

Anyone going to the Moot from ye olde continental Europe?

I could go from Berlin to London in 19 Hours for 88€, one way. That would be ~180€, plus transportation in the UK. Whew, if I actually manage to go, it'll get expensive methinks.

Anyone going to the Moot from ye olde continental Europe?

I guess I could, but hitch-hiking over the channel sounds like something that really sucks. I'd hate to get stuck somewhere for a day or so. Plus I have made some very bad experiences with hitchhiking in Germany and France. The UK is great though, we never waited more than 30 minutes, probably...

Anyone going to the Moot from ye olde continental Europe?

Hello fellow Bushcrafters, I'm thinking about going to the Moot, my parents are going to Costa Rica with my sister and will pay for my vacation if I do something like that, which is a mighty nice gesture from them. That means I'll be able to afford the ticket! The problem is that I live in...

A few days out passing on knowledge(pic heavy)

Great pictures, thank you for sharing and for the education effort! But you gotta teach your students to keep the finger off the trigger, even if it's only an air rifle.

    question about birchbark

This link shows how to make a whole handle out of birch bark. I hope it is of use to you. I've seen a thread about a knife with a stacked birch bark handle recently, on bladeforums.com. I'll try to dig it up tonight. Edit: From the research I have done, the bark should be harvested fresh from...

A little walk in the woods.

Hey Guys, since I'm still recovering from a knee injury (chopped it open with an axe, all the way to the shin bone), I can't go on full-on hikes. But I'm trying to give my leg a bit of training, and I try to venture out into the woods at least once a week. I was very happy to see this...

    Salmon ray mears style

Oh god, I need to go fishing again. Can you cook any fish like that or does it only work with salmon? I think it doesn't work with fish that you can't get the bones out easily, right?

A morning in rural Norfolk...a few pics.

That's for sure. I'm always happy to see german made stuff outside of Germany, especially military issued gear. I think lots of those pieces are often overlooked, even in Germany. A lot of guys here import expensive titanium cooking gear, fancy sporks and generally useless, overpriced but trendy...

A morning in rural Norfolk...a few pics.

Nice pics, I do envy you and your backyard... or should I say backwoods? I'm pretty sure that your Swedish mess kit is actually a German one. I've used German Bundeswehr issued mess kits for 10+ years.

    Anyone got Helikon trousers ?

My favorite pants! I love them. Well-made for the price (about 30€ here in Germany), and I just love the little pockets on top of the big side pockets. Perfect for phone, SAK, flashlight, lighter... the cargo pockets are awesome. I've carried a loaf of bread in one and 3 bottles of beer in...

I gots me a new knife

I hope it will! I'm getting a bit anxious about sharpening, as it will need sharpening some day. I really like the performance of the scandi grind, I hope I manage to sharpen it without destroying anything. Are there any tricks to sharpening scandi ground knives?

few bits iv done recently, fist attempts!

That jungle knife sheath looks sweet. Nice work! I had my first go at making a leather sheath for a chopper a while ago, I pretty much did the same thing you did. Here's a link!

    Dividers/material suitable for a rucksack?

If you can find some 4-6mm closed-cell foam, EVA or something similar, you're pretty much set. Just cut to size, sew into fabric, sew velcro on, attach to backpack, ready to go. A thin sleeping pad which can be had for a few quid should do the job.
