For most of us on here, the Christmas period is a time for exchanging gifts. I was thinking about the forum, and its stated aim of having members share their knowledge and opinions and so forth. So I started wondering about what I get out of being a regular in here, and more importantly perhaps, what I contribute.

I had a look at my posts, and many of them seem to be attempts at humour, so I suppose I'm trying to contribute a laugh now and then, or at least a smile. I also seem to have put up a number of pic heavy threads, showing trips I have had in my local area, trying to encourage others to get out and about and enjoy the outdoors.

What I get back is easy. Information, inspiration, entertainment, education, a strong sense of community, and lots of friends (most of whom I have never met)

So...

What do you give, and what do you get?

Apt post for this time of year. I try to help, give my own experiences or advice when it has not been covered yet if I feel I have something to add. The trouble is that 95% of the time the contributers know much more than me or the obvious has already been stated, so I just join in by trying to learn a bit more about the chosen subject. It's the never ending threads that make you think, 'thats a cool idea' or 'got to have a go at making one of those' that keeps me coming back for more. No other forum would have me thinking about what I need to make a pair of snow shoes over the Xmas break...

I try to offer help and support when and where it is needed, I gain knowledge and Friendship as well as a feeling that maybe there are some decent people still left in the world lol.

I think that almost all on this forum try to give more than they receive which is why its such a great place and has us all coming back time and time again

Well done to all who participate and all who run this site!!

well all of the above really.....i get info, friends, people who i have met, and people im due to meet, and people who i have never met, but class them all as very good friends......

I always try to help with info where i can, I probably come across as a bit of a know it all some times, but im no master, and i try to teach the mistakes as well as the end goal, after all this is how we learn....

I am so greatfull to the side owner, and admin people, who make all this wonderfull FREE info, and resource whithin a few clicks for all to see, and share.......

the best thing though, is having the respect of the other members, i know no person here will willingly upset, anoy, or disrespect me in any way, even if im being a twit........this site really is one big family.......i also know i can count on other members for support when i need it, and no matter what it may be...........

having said that, do i give enough?????????????????????

regards.
