Hi there, everyone. I posted before about a billhook I bought in China. I'm back out there again, and in the mood for tooling up. My billhook stayed in the UK, so I'll pick up a new one when I find a good source, but I'm also considering asking a blacksmith (assuming I find one) to make something special for me. When I find one it'll be by chance at some time like on new years day when I'm day hiking through small villages, so I want to be ready.
I've wanted a little tomahawk/hatchet for ages, and am wondering if there are such things as plans/blueprints for commissioning axes, or do people normally just give measurements and a photo of something similar?
What would you guys get made if you had access to a traditional blacksmith workshop? The best things will be what they're used to making, but ideas couldn't hurt. It'd be a shame to pass a blacksmith by without taking the chance to order something cool/ useful because I couldn't think of something on the spot.
