I think it is a prehistoric carving honoring a now extinct birdspecies

It's either a Spile Trosher, or a Woggler's Moulie.

I wasn't far out then, thinking it was a Binlie Gungle.

Ozzy is right, it is indeed a Japanese chippys line marker, still rather ink stained.

I found it at the car boot (never underestimate car boots), thought it would be a bit of fun for you.

(The vendor didn't know what it was either, thought it was a pulley of some sort)
