Took the kids for a walk in Killiecrankie and found this, the kids were very interested (good sign)

Might look into coming down when there doing a burn.

I wonder how it works? From the looks of that lid it would take two men to lift it, and I can't imagine how you would lift that on or off without burning yourself to death once it was going.

Fill it with invasive species, mainly rhodies, leaving as little airspace as possible, light with lid open and once ablaze, put lid on and seal edges with a couple small vents and it cooks itself, burning off the volatiles leaving the charcoal behind. On a kiln that size it takes about 24 hours from start to finish and you have to be on hand to regulate it.
