Upload avatar Photo

Hi folks,
Been trying to upload an avatar photo from my laptop(compressed file)but not having much luck.Anyone point me in the right direction?

what do you mean by compressed file??
needs to be in correct format( .jpg, bmp, gif... etc not actually sure what the requirements are.) and under i think 4 megs.

I think the format was fine(jpg),i did nt realise about the number of posts thing though.
I believe a compressed file is a bigger photo which has been made in to smaller file?something like that....
