Trapping/collecting crayfish

Hi guys I was wondering if crayfish are present down south wales? And what to look out for in trying to find them, I've heard of burrows but not really sure on habitat. Of course they will be in streams and small rivers but do they prefer a certain ground type, silty? Sandy, mud. I'm in Llanelli. Also I need to apply for a permit for collect them is that correct?

Interactive map? Not sure. I think I know which one you mean, ie; you can zoom right in to almost exact locations of suspected or confirmed spots..... I've looked online but can't seem to find it anymore.....
