So I have a wife and 2 young girls, whom love camping, but due to the nature of a few things that make getting out difficult, we have been looking for a touring caravan as the solution to our troubles.

Alas, covid hit and mad caravan purchases have made caravans been sold with even being viewed, and older caravans selling more than they were originally purchased for 10 years prior.

So we have at last found one....and going to collect on Sunday, but need insurance.

For those of you out there, whom can you recommend?

This is bushcrafty, as this is the only way I can get out there to practice at the moment!!!

Many thanks for the advice in advance, Gra

Join the Camping and Caravanning Club and take advantage of ClubCare insurance.

Clubcareinsurance.com

club is well worth joining for other benefits too.
Thank you, just done a quick quote online, and almost double the avia qoute at coming up to £800 that's crazy.

Might still join, but not for insurance

A lot will depend on how much you are spending on a caravan, and how secure the storage of it is, Insurance for a caravan is not mandatory, but obviously when involved in an accident it can cause, and receive a lot of damage, the bulk of the cost of insurance is to cover the cost of it being stolen, as caravan thefts are quite common, about 5000 are stolen each year, so whether you get the insurance or not, the security of it when it is static is very important.

Agreed, apart from a tracker, it has everything else. And stored in a locked garage, not visible and CCTV 24/7 recording.

I recommended the Camping Club as I found insurance hard to get on a campervan with the usual agencies. The Camping Club and Adrian Flux were the only agencies interested. My wife insures her car through LV but they are not interested in my standard VW professionally converted van. Similarly, those agencies specialising in cheap deals for senior citizens aren't interested either. The concept of 80 something surfers seems to boggle their imagination.

The other reason I rejoined the Camping Club after having been a Youth Member 65 years ago was for the network of simple certificated sites on farms etc. I hate commercial sites where I am over charged for "facilities" I neither need nor want.

Most of the comparison sites cover touring caravan insurance which is where we found Frank Pickles, we've been with them for a few years now.

Thank you all, I am with aviva, and they are the underwriters for comfort insurance, so might go with them. Aviva have been and still are brilliant with there health insurance that my wife needs right now, so can be trusted.

Cheers Gra
