I have to say, that looks like a batter beating spoon. The kind that makes sponge cakes, pancakes and the like. Y'can get a good grip and a good beating going with the right spoon :)

oh yes, you cant beat the right size and shape of spoon for mixing up a good batter, this one is going to get gifted to a friend of mine on one of the local farms who has kept me supplied with wood whilst ive been poorly, think i might tell him he can only use it for mixing pancake batter.

My thanks to your wood supplier.

Many large chef stirring spoons have a single large hole in the middle of the bowl part.
Much more mixing turbulence and less spattering.
