If you've ever built a litter shelter and woken up in the morning bitten to buggery by mites, mozzies, midges etc etc..here''s a bit of a relief for you.

Clear a small patch of ground right in the middle (or move all your bedding ferns etc to one side) and put a few smouldering sticks in the middle and cover with green leaves. seal the opening roughly with sticks etc and just let the smoke filter through the leaf litter and drive the beasties away. Just before bed remove all the smoking wood and greenery and either put it out or return it to your main fire, drag your bedding back over the nice warm spot and sleep soundly. You may awaken with a couple of bites, but the smell of the smokesmoke will keep most at bay.

REMEMBER !! Make sure where you had your "smudge" is completely clear, and don't leave the shelter unattended whilst you are smudging it. (there's always the remote chance your shelter might turn into a nice warm bonfire.)

:super:

*edit Sorry should've posted this in tips n tricks (numpty :banghead: )
