We had a large birch tree (along with a few other trees unfortunatley) in our woods uprooted by the strong winds we had a week ago.

Was a lovely tree so spent an evening removing the bark, cross-cutting it into sections and splitting it into usable blanks.

So far I've only had time to make a couple of items from it, but there are a few more on their way.

Plaited/woven bark basket:

:D the baskets look tidy :approve: and the bowl is beautiful :D

I have one that shape, and it's just perfect for bread making. It actually works with you when you're kneading the dough.

cheers,
M

Great stuff Andy, and to make use of the fallen tree.
You got some nice bark strips there.
