To answer the OP. I have not read the book nor seen the film. But I get the gist.

I would do nothing. I would wait to be killed by one of the other competitors, that is presuming they managed to get me into the arena in the first place.

I think the key strategy is to avoid getting into the situation in the first place. Actively work against anything that seems to be taking our society towards this distopia. Deny funds to any organisation that suggests that killing people could be entertainment. In short - don't watch the film.
