Does anybody know how to make snow shoes?

Find a book by Provencher called The Last of the Couruers de Bois and it show how to lace up snowshoes.

When I was a kid, there was an old guy in a village just north of us who made them;
a lot of hot water immersion used to bend a piece of ash into a loop--he made Huron style shoes. If I were going to attempt it, I think I would try the Ojibwa style shoe--
a 2-piece frame and less bending involved.....

Have a look at the Ray Mears Northern Bushcraft Series - he makes some in that.

The book I've seen recommended is Gilpatricks, but I have never seen it myself (but I intend to get it by summer so I can make some for myself.
