I pulled together all the bit and pieces I have been carving for the past few months in an effort to be a bit more prepared for Christmas this year and thought I’d share what I’ve manage to make so far.


Hopefully the recipients will show as much interest as the cat!!!

Very nice body of work. What are your favorite woods and finishes?

Favourite wood had to be apple by a country mile bit birch is what I have most commonly available which isn’t a bad second choice.
Finishes are almost exclusively oil (mostly almond) followed by beeswax.

Yep butter spreader based on an old butter knife design.

The bowl is made from eucalyptus, I agree the grain is quite striking and it turned out pretty well all things considered but one of the most challenging carvings I’ve ever done! I certainly won’t be using it again in the near future.
