I'm going to look stupid I know but I have a really basic question.
I have a leather trouser belt and I want to replace two rivets that are on the belt.
The head of the rivet has a 10mm diameter and when the belt is doubled over it is 5mm in width.
Now, do I just buy 10mm x 5mm or do I need a slightly longer rivet?
See I told you it was basic:rolleyes:

Steve,
Ther no such thing as a stupid question - if you dont know you ask, or remain ignorant.............

I dont know the answer either and that has stopped me buying rivets, so Ill watch his thread with interest.

Eceni county.
Buy the rivets longer. The end of the rivet would need to stick out a bit for hammering over.Cut them off so it leaves about 3-4mm.
Im assuming you mean the rivets that you hammer the end of?

PM me your snail mail and I'll send you a few Tubular rivets (the ones you linked to)
The ones I've got have a cap roughly 10mm and a shank thats about 12mm.
I've used them on leather down to 1.5 mm thickness (so a sandwich of 3mm)
Brass, Nickel or Black ?
