For a short while during the summer I found myself back in rainy Scotland, on those days when I was at the family home I set about repairing some of the lime mortar wall that surrounds the property, it backs onto a handily positioned beech hedge that scratches your head and arms when trying to position the stones, some of the stones are a bit heavy too, the constant kneeling down played hell with my knees but I was quite pleased with the results.

Looks a splendid job to me, that'll weather in nicely. Down here they used to paint fresh stonework with a slurry of cowpats and sour milk, and a year later it looks as if it's been there since god was a boy :)

I have never done a mortared wall, just a short length of drystone - but I know how heavy some of those rocks are going to be!
Well done - that is a well deserved beer!
