Not far from Calais in France
I can get my hands on a duck down 3 season bag and it's a good price but a bit heavy. Presumably I could remove the hood bit to reduce the weight. Could I also open it up and remove some of the down. Doable or stupid idea? I hope to use the bag for summer use only. And weight is important.

^ This. Removing the hood and zips will remove bulk too. Removing some of the down, likely much trickier and not worth it. If you remove down, have a clean room, dust mask and hoover ready.

Buy a Summer bag and a couple of good liners. If you really have to have the down bag , keep it for the winter.
