Outhaus Merino blankets?

Here's a few photos of the hardware for the leather straps, one or two of the guys mentioned that there were no photos of them on the website.....

They are good enough for what they are intended....holding a rolled up blanket together!

I just received one of these blankets and it seems very soon par standard. There are many"ladders" running the entire length from missing strands and the logo yeah it's hanging half of due to improper stiching. I think I got sent a reject. I ordered from a bushcraft store and not the company. Can anyone comment on the stand missing leaving open channels that are especially evident when held up against the light

Hi Matarius,

I have one of these blankets and I am very happy with it.

The weight of it is 1.74 kg.

I have plenty of experience with wool blankets being ex British Army, and these are of far superior quality than any other ones that I have come across over the years.

I have also washed it in the washing machine on a wool cycle and hung it out on the washing line to dry naturally, which has lofted up the fibres a bit more and improved the warmth.

Hi Allan, afraid I only just noticed your reply. I actually ended up getting a Swiss Army blanket, got one made in 1965 because it’s my birth year!. I absolutely love it, it’s so warm, actually about the same weight as the Outhaus, 1.8kg. Only negative is it’s a tad itchy, I can feel it through a T-shirt, although I’ve seem to have got used to it now and it doesn’t bother me. I just like the tradition of it. They’re certainly not cheap, it was £159 including postage, from the Ukraine, but I’m happy with it, actually thinking to get another one dating to 1918, that would be something really special, thinking of the changes in the world since then, and still being used! I’m just waiting on one of the Swiss Army folding lanterns, a brilliant bit of kit for out in the woods, I like my UNO lantern but it’s not quite enough light by itself.
