First outing for DD tarp, and also first outing for firesteel and much practiced back garen fire lighting skills.

1st night, dreadful weather, erected tarp in a 2 man tent style shelter, stayed up all night despite wind and rain, woke up staring at the sky feelign happy.

Second night much better, erected tarp in woods (made some pegs too)

and practiced my fire skills:

30 seconds later, fire! Also made a featherstick, which went up like nobodies business.

Nice long fire, warm and bug free all night.

My first bushcradting, age 33, over the moon! My camping friends thought I was nuts, but were impressed by the tarp.

Congratulations on your first outing. Addictive isn't it?:D

Yes, and its so simple. Almost like genetic memory or something....I sort of 'knew' what to do, and felt happy doing it.

Perhaps the best bit was seeing a wild stag as we walked to our camp spot. We both stopped, stared at each other for a minute or so, then went our seperate ways.

Loved falling asleep being able to see the stars (so much nicer than a tent), and also had a big smile after I cleared everything up, and it looked liek we hadnt even been there.

Addicted now! Hammock next I think.
