1. make sure there are no rotten branches overhead, make sure you have a good firesite (no roots in the ground near your fire)

2. the willow leaf has a notch in the tip of it, not sure what you used it for

3.to make your matches burn longer and to make them waterproof you wrapped them in cotten wool and then soaked them in wax

alder as a toothbrush, might have to try that one day

also might be going down the local woods in a bit and set up my hammock just to test it

That brought a smile to my face. Great to see. I really love getting youngsters involved, it gives the whole bushcraft ethos relevance in todays "hi-tech" society. Well done both of you.

Though I do think you need to hire a new photographer ;)
