I thought people might be interested to know that the Museum of English Rural Life in Reading is running a series of crafting introduction classes.
The next classes which run for 2 or 3 hours are:
Hand-sewn quilting 10 & 17 May
Hurdle Making 8 June
Willow Work 14 & 15 June
(they have previously run paper making, blacksmithing, felt making classes, earlier this year).
Also at MERL are a series of 10 x 10 minute films with country craftspeople explaining their lives and describing how to do things like dry stone walling, or weaving from natural materials.
Details of these and other activities (e.g. for young people) can be found in the What's On guide here
I'm not affiliated to MERL but I am their local Councillor, and it's a great institution.
