These things are a lot like a beaver but they live in the alps and make great eating. I tried traditional marmotte stew with a french pasta the other day whilst skiing in France. I am told that it tastes like beaver but I have never tried beaver. Anybody tried both.

We were wuite near the Swiss border. Can you get it from Switzerland? If so maybe they got it from there. More than likely though it was for the benefit of silly tourists (me) trying to make them think that they are eating something they are no.

I stayed in a hotel in Leogang,Austria where the centre piece of the dining room was a stuffed Marmot.
I suspect it tastes like chicken ;)
