Hi All,

Posting a friend.

7year old Alaskan Malamute - free to a good home. She is going to be put down next week as we can't find her a new home and her owner is going into hospital. Message me for details.

Can she not be taken to the Dogs Trust rather than be put to sleep....assuming she is a healthy dog?

I just found this:

http://www.malamuterescue.org.uk

Might be worth a try?

I would really hate to think of this dog being put to sleep for no other reason than it's present owner is unable to keep her.

we're so lucky to have found landlords who are fine with dogs in our last 4 homes here in Bristol

I'm sorry if my initial post seemed aggressive... I just hate that people seem to think that killing a dog is a suitable solution

A beautiful breed and as said dont put her down, take her to a re-homing centre if she doesn't find a home in the meantime.A sad situation for her owners but hopefully she gets a new home.
good luck.

Word of caution chaps, while Arctic breeds are undoubtedly lovely to behold, they have very specialist needs, they are not for the uninitiated and unfortunately very easily find themselves doing the rounds of willing but ill-informed owners. As others have said, do not put the dog down, Husky rescue have an army of helpers who will make sure she is assessed and fostered in a safe environment before permanent re-homing. I have been keeping huskies for the last 15 or so years, PM if you need any advice or links ..in fact pm anyway so I know she is in good hands ;)

OK, just replied to all the emails.

Firstly, thank you to all for your offers of help.

Just a little bit about the situation that she has found herself in. She was taken on about 12 months ago with the best intentions of looking after her properly, but a bit of naivity and ill heath has left he looking for a new home for her. So far, no one in the North Wales area has been able to take her in, even rescue centres have told us that they are full. As my friend is going in to hospital as an inpatient next week she felt that she had no option but to have her put down as there is no one to look after her.

Hopefully, thanks to you all, that will no longer be an option.

I will keep you all updated.

Thanks again.

Can you let me know if you're still having re-housing problems with the dog, I can probably help or know someone else who can.

Cheers

Matt
