I was reading through the blurb for lundhags park that I quite fancy and wondered how the sizing works, it says it's a shell boot and you need two pairs of socks, so how does this work with what size to buy?

Is is it just a case of a decent pair of woolly socks and your good to go?

I'd suggest trying them on, but aim for two sizes bigger than normal.
I use one thin and one thicker woolen sock, which works great. No blisters with roughly 300 kms of walking...

Unless it's changed since I bought mine (a long time ago, to be fair), the boot is the right size for the stated size (so a size 40 (EU) is roughly as you'd expect to fit a foot that normally takes a size 40) and *you* have to go up one or two sizes to accommodate the thicker socks. (Hope that makes sense!) I went up two sizes, but I've got wide feet so maybe best to try before you buy, or get them from a company with a good return policy.

My boots were just the outer leather without any inner liner or padding (apart from the collar, which was padded) and a wooden insole. I got a pair of felt insoles and wore thick hiking socks in them. It took a while to get them broken in but they were great for hiking in all sorts of wet and mucky conditions. In the end, they dried out while left with my parents and sadly were beyond rescue.

Good advice Greger :)

I do the two sock method for different hiking boots. Pair of double layer 1000 mile socks then a thick pair merino wool socks.

Never had any problems with sore feet or blisters. ;)

+1 for the 2 socks. I generally take a 44 euro size and was the same for the lundhug Jaure boots. They have a wider (Opti) last. i also have an older pair of single layer boots (older version of the forest) and, although comfy, i do find them slightly narrower. so do prefer the Opti last boots.
But, they aren't cheap so m advice is definitely find somewhere to try them on. I know Nordic Outdoor (no affiliation) have shops in Edinburgh and now Glasgow and they carry a small range.
Great boots though, especially for the Scottish climate.

I went for +2 sizes to accomodate both socks and the fact that the feet (mine at least) gets slightly bigger (term? swell?) when hiking with a heavy backpack

I have not owned a pair of Lundhags for decades, but the principle is the same for all single layer boots for me.
I like an inner sole of felt, an inner thin cotton sock and a thick wollen sock outside that.
Boots should be large and wide enough not to squeeze the foot.
