Hi every one,
I’m finding it really hard to find a Swedish LK35 rucksack, all I need is the frame so I can attach my chutney barrel to it to make it easier to portage the canoe.. any ideas who has them in stock in the uk?

i went to a charity shop and bought an old 70/80’s rucksack n frame for £3 to do the same job 12 years ago for the same reason.
if you can’t get a LK, there always in the charity shops and no one wants them! Just a idea.

No idea where you could get it, but another pretty good idea are these Ortlieb bags:

My Ortlieb drybags did last for decades and are still good. Just set them carefully on the ground!
These German made drybags are welded together and not sewn and taped or glued like the products of the competition.

I love to sit on my barrel, but I have no portages in Mecklenburg.

I keep my stuff in Ortlieb bags and just use plastic barrels as mouse proof food containers. But you can of course also hang your food into a tree in a smaller Ortlieb bag.

Another frame could be a US army ALICE pack frame. They aren't so rare.
They cost including the bag approximately 50€ used.

Newer versions, MOLLE system, are made out of plastic. That's perhaps better for the boat.

Sorry, my English isn't so good.

What's exactly the meaning of "sold out"?

By the way:

I guess, that the cotton canvas LK35 I have seen in a very small shop in a small town in Germany one year ago is still there.
But it would be pretty expensive to send it to Britain, and I didn't buy it, because it was already pretty expensive in the shop.

I’ll check out this newer version, just worried about the flex as the barrel is quite heavy when the kits in it?

I’m an avid charity shopper, to be honest, I never thought of looking for one?
Cheers my friend.

Yes, the old trekking rucksacks of the seventies and early eighties you can find in thrift shops and at flea markets pretty cheap. That's usually not the best quality in the world but it probably will work well.

I know the plastic US Army frames only from the internet but I assume that your full barrel is lighter than the full rucksacks they are constructed for.
US army equipment tends to be pretty solid.

I have an lk35 I have modified I would be happy to let go, it doesn’t have the original straps though but rather the better US molle2 straps and belt.
I can take photos if of interest? The frame is in modified

My apologies, mine was delivered today, must have been the last one they had, I do hope my grand-daughter appreciates it. Also got some nice cheap military shirts off them as well.
Even though they have no more stock left, the OP was only after the rack so it may be worth asking if they have one of a damaged or unsellable rucksack.

That's a good point!

There is a chance to find a single frame or broken rucksack in a surplus shop that did sell them. They often have a corner with such stuff.
