Bear with me as I experiment. If it does not work, feel free to help out. If it does work, feel free to laugh!

If anyone can help me out that would be great. The link is active, but I can't seem to actually insert the photo into the message, even after following the directions.

The URL you try to use isn't the one of a picture. It's the URL of the page where it is located.
To put up the piccie go to webpage that links to the URL you posted above.

Click with your right click on the picture and select "Copy image location" (or something like that).

You know you have the right piccie url if it (in your case, with the piccie you want to add, ends on .jpg as will most pictures BTW)

Paste the (picture) URL in your post (check if it ends on .jpg).

Then type in front of the pasted url the following:

Below is what I have experimented with trying. The <> are of course replaced by[] in the actual post.

<img]http://www.flickr.com/photos/36643168@N05/3537337389.jpg[/img>

Is it possible that flickr page itself is the issue?

I have attempted the following:
1) Insert image option from this toolbar
2) On the flickr page I have used "Share This" followed by "Grab the Link" options
3) Right click does not seem to bring up anything interesting to use.
4) Below the .jpg has been added after "Grab the Link" on Flicks
5) On the Flicks page I have used "Share This" follpowed by "Grab the HTML"

You're almost there.. The code is like this
The only bit you got wrong with this <img]http://www.flickr.com/photos/36643168@N05/3537337389.jpg[/img>
is the < and> at the beginning and the end of your code, it should all just be square brackets [and]

then it should show up

yep, it's flickr which is your issue here.

here's how to do it:

In flickr you need to go to the picture ypu want to add, and then click on "all sizes" and then, depending on which size you want, select it. below the pictures are two code snippets.

Use the second one "2. Grab the photo's URL"

that's what you put between the img tags.

that's it.
