I've tackled some thick ivy over the years, but the stuff on this old ash inside a hedgerow was monstrous

Bloody Ivy, seems to grow much than I remember in my youth. Maybe it is as thick as I am old.....Bugger I may be getting on a bit

I do like to leave plenty where its doing no harm because its such a brilliant late source of pollen & nectar, but this lot had to go to give me a clear sight of the trunk to drop the (diseased) tree.

As British Red said, it's a vital wildlife resource and refuge - I leave it wherever I can and have some truly mature plants.
