Does it take to change a lightbulb ??
1 to pace count the steps to the shops to purchase a new bulb.
2 to track the original bulb buyer who decided to sit down and make a cup of tea
1 to change the light bulb and 3 to post that the light bulb has been duly
changed, and is now in a hand carved lantern made from suitably harvested timber with fine leather work shade
10 to share similar experiences of finding and changing light bulbs and how the whole Meet ought to have gone differently, while still praising the cooking, the home made booze and assorted shinies
7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs, advocating safe handling techniques for the dead bulb and enquiring about the public liability aspects of suitable training .
5 to point out that techically it's not a natural resource but that the dead bulb is a useful recepticle and that the filament is just the thing to make a rather specialised trap mechanism :thinkerg:
18 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs
12 to flame the spell checkers
6 to correct spelling/grammar flames :tapedshut:
22 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...and why aren't they using candles ? and how best to pack a spare into a survival tin or a 30ltr pack
another 6 to condemn those 22 as anal-retentive :bluThinki and instigate an off topic underthread about candle lanterns versus tilley lamps
2 'professionals' to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" and that real bushcrafters only use firelight. Survivalists however are recommended to stock pile bulbs in suitable locations and have access to a generator.
10 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs that are suitably camouflaged and low impact on the environment, and that come recommended by a certain OD clad personality
8 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's and enquire about copyright issues :BlueTeamE
5 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy and that come TEOTWAWKI there won't be any power to run the bulbs anyway Underthread resurrected to praise the forethought of the survivalist mindset versus the bushcrafting one and recommend natural power methods suitable for running lightbulbs.
9 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ and get back on topic.
13 to ask what is a "FAQ"
4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" and complain about the heavy handed attempts of the Mod Squad to keep the thread in order.
25 to say "search the forum on light bulbs before posting
questions about light bulbs"
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and
start it all over again asking about Jamies and lumens and led's
