I used my hive upgrade at Spitewinter for the first time last weekend.

Main comments:

  • Overall very pleased I got it (and the rack).

  • assembly - not as difficult as had been led to believe by comments of others, but did use a small wooden batten when difficult to do solely by hand
  • bigger size means less need for constant feeding to keep it alight
  • bigger space means easier to light using a spark
  • good job I bought the rack as forgot to take a large tent peg or similar to rest pots on
  • need something - eg bricks or tent pegs - to hold rack down or likely to tip over - I had a brick windshield that saved my food/drink on more than one occasion
  • would be good to have a mod which gave a windshield - I have some thoughts but if anyone has a brainwave I'm sure we would all be interested

The rack is a good size in relation to the (expanded) stove

I have discovered feather sticks - the really good one was done by someone else (?Shaggystu?) - mind you even mine worked
