Hi folks

Thanks for letting me join what looks like a great community from what I've seen so far. I've really enjoyed looking at the photography threads, some beautiful pics there and I'm currently reading through the stuff aimed at kids as I have a mini bushcrafter that I hope to inspire, some good ideas on here :)

By way of introduction, I'm based in the NW of England by the seaside and the Lakes which I love.

My first experience of bushcraft came via a project called Timecamp 2000 where 12 volunteers (including myself) got together and lived as Mesolithic people, conducting various archaeological experiments for a week, as part of the 2nd millenium celebrations. Happy to say we all made it to the end hahaha and we opened up the project to the public for the weekend, then we contributed to an article for the BAR archaeological journals.

I worked as an archaeologist for 10 years, specialising in palaeoenvironmental and climatic studies of the Late Upper Palaeolithic and Mesolithic periods, alongside the archaeology. I've worked on quite a few Prehistoric sites across Europe.

I've also worked as a tradesperson and I'm a qualified domestic electrician. This led me to develop a passion and respect for traditional crafts and trades. I have an interest in green woodworking, particularly pole lathe work and have recently signed up as a volunteer to a woodland co-op which practices sustainable woodland management and associated crafts.

I look forward to chatting with everyone as this seems like a great community of very knowledgeable people.

Thanks everyone for a warm welcome :)

Eragon 21- the BAR report was called 'Peopling the Mesolithic' and was written up by Rebekah Judah, I'm afraid I don't have Uni access to articles online anymore or I'd happily send you a copy of the article. Feel free to ask questions if you're interested.
