Many thanks to Wanderinstar for organising the group buy via Snugpack for a hammock underblanket. For those still dithering on the second round of the group buy, here's a size comparison that may help your decision making. Undoubtedly there will be many reviews of the comfort levels from others (including myself, hopefully) later, once people get a chance to get them out in the woods...

Anyway, here are the pics - I made a HUB (Hammock UnderBlanket) based on the KAQ pattern, and following Scanker's tutorial. I've shown both HUBs together for size, along with a Snugpack Harrier 10 sleeping bag, which many of you may be familiar with. My Snugpack HUB is the large version.

The items in their stuff sacks (the Nanok stuffsack holds my own KAQ HUB, as I haven't made a stuff sack for it yet)

You can see here that the Snugpack HUB is actually slightly wider than the KAQ pattern. It's a bit shorter though...

Hopefully this shows roughly how short it is in comparison to the KAQ version - about 3 or 4 inches.

The two HUBs with the Snugpack Harrier 10 on top for a length comparison. The Snugpack HUB only just meets the end of the bag.

The head end, just to show they really are lined up!

Hope this helps!

I'm chuffed to bits and can't wait to get them out in the woods and try a proper temperature, comfort and usability test!

Nice one Outdoorgirl :)

I purchased the large underblanket from Ian and although the weather wont be (hopefully) a good test I'll be using it for two nights this weekend.

To ensure as proper test as possible I'll only be taking a one season bag.

The length seems OK, I rarely slepp in a hammock stretcher out anyway and with it wrapped around the sides the one season bag should be plenty warm enough

I'll post how I get on next week.

When I used a 1-2 season bag with my underquilt a while back, I was toasty on the bottom, but chilly on the top. I think the temperature was about 8-10C then. It was dandy at the bushmoot though. The forecast shows low teens for this weekend, so it should be warm enough for me to try again.

Nice job ODG.
