Hairy beast - What is it?

I found this little hairy beast on the bramble bush in our garden.

I've looked in all our books and had a quick look on the web, does anyone know what it is?

It's about 40mm long and the head end has the two tufts like antlers.

Yes it is the caterpillar of the Vapourer Moth

Shame such a colourful caterpillar turns into a big brown moth, but least we know what it is

Found it by pure accident I'd just cut the lawn and trimmed an over hanging Bramble, I found it on a leaf as I was about to put it in the green bin. So I took the photo's and put it back on the Bramble

Tom after seeing what the moth is like we've had a few of those around.

It amazes me just what we do get in the garden we also had a Wood Warbler the other day but only managed to get a poor photo of it

Eat it I was going to put it on a stick and use it as a toothbrush
