As Elen has just posted in the campsites thread.

I'm very sad about this, its a place I've been to a lot but not since Feb. Great place I though other people may want to comment so started a new thread to keep the campsites one clear.

Sad times

Can't say I'm surprised to be honest. I must have had well over a dozen weekends there but the river area was cut to ribbons and the main campsite...I just couldn't see what they were trying to achieve what what with caravans and shipping containers all over the place.

It may be that they are turning the place over to quads or mountain bikes perhaps?

Shame, haven't been there for a couple years now but I always enjoyed it when I did go back in the day.

They advertise Tir Abbey, http://www.tirabbey.com/, as an alternative. It certainly looks possible, I may go over and have a look next year, what do you think BRB? I don't think the other one, Ty-canol Farm www.tycanolfarm.co.uk , is really my sort of place.

Been looking for somewhere near enough to Pen y Fan, Ystradfellte for the waterfalls walks and a touch of Sarn Elen at the top and found this, http://www.campbyastream.co.uk/, through UK Campsites. It looks promising, fires, small, not sure about hanging but worth a look.

Elen there is a place close the Pen Y Fan I only went once, no facilities, its a dig and dump site but there are trees if you feel the urge to hammock camp.....I can't remember the name, Dougster has used it a few times.

Agreed the drainage down by the river was bad but there were some good dry spots on the higher ground. It was best to avoid the main track going down and head along the top.
