A Belgian friend of mine was bemoaning how hard it is for him to find shoes that fit his very wide feet. So, I am wondering if the hive mind of BCUK can help. Can anyone recommend a store in either Amsterdam, Brussels, London, or near by any of these that can help fit said friend with a pair of walking shoes. He takes an EU 40 length wise, but the circumference of the widest part of his foot is 24cm at the toes.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Julia

I recently got a new pair of Altbergs and they were offered in wide and extra wide fittings at no extra cost, you just had to make your purchase direct from them and await them being made. i remember Nike offering the same service for trainers years ago but i don't know if they still do

Certain manufactures do wider fittings, Meindl, Crispi and certain Hi-Techs come to mind. Also have a look at some of the hunting boot manufactures as seemingly us hobbit feeted folk like to hunt!
Sorry I can't put you towards any stores in those locals but look up those manufacturers and see what store locations pop up.
Hope this helps.

Check out vivo barefoot. They have a store in Covent Garden. They do casual shoes but also a range of wide fitting, lightweight boots that would be good for walking.

You should try that when you need EU38 with a circumference of 23cm because EU38 falls into the women's size range and women's shoes are made narrower. I ended up paying Altberg several arms and legs to make a last and the boots and shoes and motorcyle boots they made for me fit beautifully. Similarly my day to day shoes are made to measure by a lovely hippie shoemaker in Glastonbury. Sadly I don't think there is any real alternative if you have feet that are way outside the standard shape.

My feet are a hobbit footed 24cm width. My lenght is a uk 7. I dont have any problem fitting a mens 8. If i want girlie shoes it becomes difficult. My son has even wider more hobbitty feet, he doesn t a problem either.
