This thread has just been pointed out to us. Since you have sold all the knives already, there is little that we can do. However, for future reference, do not use this forum to sell fake products. Selling fakes is illegal. Doing so through this forum is a bannable offence.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Robbi,
If you want to sell-on the own-brand Ganzo, go ahead.

The three other knives are marked with the Benchmade Logo. In the description and discussion everyone describes them by the names of the original Benchmade product. They are illegal knock offs.

As both a maker and an engineering designer, I view the copying of designs and selling cheap by Chinese companies as morally wrong, even if it isn't technically illegal. Copying not just the design, but also the brand logos is a step too far and something this site will not support.

As everyone here is now aware of the situation, we do not want to see those three knives, or any other knock offs from you guys, for sale at a later date.

Thank you.

Chris

Hi Chris,

I,ll be keeping the Ganzo thank you, they really are very good knives.

Copying designs is an interesting subject, but branding the copy as the original item is as you say naughty indeed and BCUK is right to make a stand on this, but copying a design per se is very common world over, take for example the copying of the Alan Wood / Ray Mears Woodlore design.

I too have designed and made items that I have sold on specialist forums only to see a cheap copy turn up on ebay some months later, am I flattered that someone thought the item so good they wanted to copy it, or cheesed off because I lost a sale ? I think that if anyone wants the real deal and quality, they will come back to me with their order.

As I say, it's an interesting and complicated subject.

I know there is a lot of controversy in the knife community about clone knives and I can understand this, I won't put any up on the site again. I purchased these knives to get a feel for what the real things would be like and liked them so much I will go on to buy the real things. Don't think I would of dropped the cash on the real deal if it wasn't for the clones, so I suppose they've pushed a customer towards the USA company and not stolen money from them..

Jon,
Thank you for your understanding, and commitment not to sell any more here.

I am very aware that a Sales thread isn't the best place to continue this, if continued it must be.

It isn't something I particularly want to get into further, having done so enough in the past, but if there is a desire to debate copies, perhaps starting a fresh thread would be the right thing?

Best Regards

Chris
