Do you have a woodburning stove, in your Canvas Tent? Is your tent flame retardant or not?

Not sure if the bell tents are?

Im guessing 'Flame Retardant' just means, if the tent catches fire, the canvas will burn slower?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks

The "modern" flame retardant canvas meant that they were treated with a flame retardant chemical. Like the chemicals used to treat building lumber (and sheet rock) it wears out after a while.

The older military and wall tents with stove pipe holes are usually reinforced at those points with something other than canvas. Back in the day it was asbestos but I don't knoe now-a-days.

Hey Santaman.

I had a quick google and found a bit of info, but worth asking the question on here, as someone may have an insight gleamed from personal experience.

Funny you should answer, as the tent I've ordered is from the States, a Kodiak Canvas Flexbow.
Cant wait to get it! :D
They seem quite popular over there.

You can put a stove in a nylon tent and have no problems so long as your flue jack is fitted right and the stove well positioned.

You would think any canvas tent is more fire retardant than a nylon one.
I'll just put some kingspan under it and behind it.
